I am interested in taking macro for flower buds and insects.

Small bugs or big bugs? If you are looking to take really really small things or can't get as close as you like, you might want to consider the Micro 200mm; but you'll need to manual focus. With the Micro 200mm, you would manually focus anyway since even the D3 has a hard time locking on automatically.
