I just received my bid from ebay and found out that the lens don't focus onto anything less than 2 ft. Should I send it back as the postage will cost me a bomb or if it is a simple repair here?

What lens is it and what is it's minimum focal distance supposed to be?

Most lens should focus less than 2 ft except for some old one. I got a 35-105 old lens, min is 85cm! :(
But it is ok, use for time being. ;p

Sorry to OT.

Saw 35mm F1.4 going ard 1.2k while 85mm F1.4 for slightly over 1k. Both RARE LENS! Esp the 35mm.

it is a minolta 28mm the minimum focus distance is 1 ft

tried it out on another body?

30cm is about 1 ft, sorry to confuse as I was trained with the british and meteric system so sometimes I'm also confused.

No other body to try on. I think I'll keep it and send it for servicing.

i find it to be a very useful lens, if u dont mind it's fixed at 28mm. very small and light to travel with.
;p

I look at the spec for a 20mm. The viewing is 94 degree! IMO, it is good for travel in china as one lens can capture all the landscrape easily. Think of getting one but the cost..... SGD1k!

I did consider the Tamron SP AF14mm F/2.8 Aspherical (IF) Rectilinear for wide landscape but have pushed that way back in my to-get list because I can't imagine how often would I want that much sky and foreground in one pic. From what I have seen, I prefer stitching several frames into a panorama pic.

Don't think fisheye is recommend for taking photo of landscrape + human together. A 20mm is ideal for me during those trip on a boat, I take photo of the vallery + wife etc... ;)

I thinking of getting this lens due to Sigma 24-70mm is not so recommended. Therefore, if I settle down for a KM 28-75mm for normal shooting, I need a super wide to fulfil my needs. If getting a prime 24mm, don't make sense. Therefore, I am considering this 20mm lens. Great for travelling if visit those country with lots of landscape.:)

even without the lens hood on, the flare control is still very good for tis lens...no point getting the 24mm if u r going for more landscape, get the 20mm.
