No, you don't have to use a filter. "Natural Lens Flare" is self-explanatory already. This is the lens flare inherent in lenses, so all you really need is a strong light source, like the sun.

But please don't point directly into the sun & look through the view finder, unless you want to give up photography immediately

basically.. i have a picture i took sometime ago...
but i wasnt able to obtain lens flare.. and i doubt anyway could... ill share the picture

haha any body know how could i obtain lens flare? .. i doubt even the sun is really brighter... lens flare in this picture wont come out..
am i right?

What Catchlights said above would work to create global flare IIRC.

There are different types of lens flare - reflective, diffractive, coma ... but let's not get technical.

Which type of lens flare do you want to create?

Some of them can be simulated in post production, and for others, it's best to select lenses based on their technical weaknesses to obtain 'naturally occuring' flare.

Also, you often get more flare when you place the intense light source (sun, spot light etc) just outside of the frame at one of the corners.
