My Reason, My Singapore a short film - film entry for cine65 II

Hi everyone,

Kindly support my film 'My Reason, My Singapore' by watching and sharing it to your friends in the cine65 II website link below:

https://cine65.sg/film/cine65-ii_my-reason-my-singapore/197

Entirely filmed using Lumix GH2 except the underwater scene which I used Gopro 3 Black Edition to film it. Lens used are Panasonic 20mm/1.7, Panasonic 14-150mm/F4. All these equipments are bought from Clubsnap marketplace forum in second hand.

My sound equipments are Rode videomic and Rode boom pole which I bought from Sim Lim before the production shoot.

Edited using FCPX (Just a note if your editing your short films using FCPX, save your Final Cut Projects in another location every now and then cause FCPX is not that stable yet. One day before the deadline of the competition my FCPX project file can't be opened. Luckily the film is only 3 minutes according to the competition rules that's why I have no choice but to re-edit the whole thing.)

Enjoy guys and let me know what you think!

Cheers!
Jone

I really wonder how you managed to shoot a scene with the traffic jam!

Oh :) Actually it is one of the most interesting part of making this film :) It is basically a guerrilla style where my actors and I planned what to do before we did it in a real traffic jam. I went to the overhead bridge to setup my camera and when I raised up my hands as a signal to them to start, they just auto-pilot acted it out without any walkie talkies:)

I will post some videos how we actually did it in the facebook page link below for you to see :)

So Im guessing that the close up scenes were shot after you shot the real traffic jam scene from afar huh?

Partly you are right :) We actually filmed the close-ups and the long shots first at a parking lot before we went to a real traffic jam as a backup because we don't really know whether we can actually do it with all the risk involve knowing that it is a real highway and its really risking my actors lives because of one shot. So we were all quite hesitant to do it. But I'm really grateful to have such actors who are really very supportive in making this film because without their support and confidence this shot wouldn't be possible.

nice picture. I couldnt believe that i watched almost the whole thing without fast forward. U captured my attention. I am sure you would capture others. haha.. *clap clap*

Didn't even notice that. Only upon rewatching (after seeing your post) and looking out for it, then I noticed the same stationary vehicle in the background of the shots of the taxi driver. Nicely cut. The sound/music design definitely worked well in that sequence too. You coaxed pretty believable performances out of your talents. Kudos!

Hey sorry I was late to vote for your film and only just found out about it.

The short film is excellent and an inspiration to all the starters in videography in Singapore. Will definitely share this :)

Thanks for your work!
