hi all,
i would like to share my video, your comments n suggestions are most welcome.
This is my first video with canon 6d. i wanted to shoot a nice Chinese monastery, i was denied permission from two monastery earlier but luckily got permission for 3 hours in a monastery near by.
So i completed shoot in 3 hours with all natural lights, canon 6d, 24-105, 50 mm 1.8, slider n tripod.

thanks

very nice video bro... think the slide/pan overview of the place is a bit too fast. doesn't work for that sort of shot. would have been better if there was a subject throughout though. a bit hard I suppose.

Nice details. First video already got company logo at the end of the clip? Haha.

All looks great except for 22 second where the back of the chair is right in the frame and doesn't quite gel in.

Just my two cents.

Looking forward to your next video

All I can say is nice. The colors and sharpness are all very good. :)

Don't mind me asking this.

I have shot both 60D and 6D. When comes to editing, I find that 6D when doing color grading or some tweaking here and there, everything is quite minimal unlike 60D, I can actually push a lot more.

For example, a video clip on 60D, when I am crushing my blacks, I can crush all the way to 30%. Same video clip on 6D, at 8%, I managed to crush my blacks quite well. Does it means 6D has more D-range ?

For me, I find that color grading on a 6D video clips gives me faster workflow but high data space. That's the only major difference for me.

hi deniyal, thanks for your comments.
i was also using 60d before bt as u know couldent keep my self away from full frame camera :), i still miss my 60d bt also love dis 6d, i dont see much of the difference in video quality whn shooting outdoor stuff bt 6d performs really good in low light, dont know mch about the D-range differences. i use flat profile which give bit more advantage in post. sometimes i feel m making it over saturated bt since i wanted to give it cinematic look. i didnt tone it down.

I agree with you. About 50% of the time, I only do minimal color grading.

I also use flat profiles. Even with flat profiles, the colors produced by 6D are quite good where at times, you don't need to color grade.

Thought the slide/pans were quite nicely executed. Agree with what Deunamist mentioned. The pace of the slide/pans felt a tad fast for a contemplative setting like a temple. But I guess this boils down to your concept for the overall edit. Overall, it's a decent test/practice video  But if I were to see this in somebody's portfolio as a standalone clip, I would think there isn't a strong concept (at least for me) as the music and the camera movement suggests a 'tourism / come and visit me' concept, while the content of the shots suggests more of a 'documentary / let me tell you about this place' concept. But yeah, if you could work out some underlying narrative (I can think of two directions: 1.Factual/documentary – Research and write a short piece about the temple. 2. Fictional - Create a character), it would bring it to another level.

Another thought: Towards the end, it was mostly closeups. I found myself expecting it to finish with a wide shot of the whole place, or exterior. Probably partly because it's a cliche (that's how it's usually done), but also I had forgotten how the temple looked and wanted to see it again before I 'left'. But I guess that depends on your concept for the overall clip. Just some personal thoughts, no hard and fast rules with creative work, so feel free to agree/disagree, no hard feelings :) Thanks for sharing!
