Hi everyone I would like to show you guys a video which I did for my school project.

http://vimeo.com/17604218

The requirement is to submit a video 2mins in length maximum and it has got to do with suspense. Originally we were given a script and we are allowed to work our way around it, but I just changed the whole thing anyway.

The production only took about 4 hours, and total I spent about $200. Camera used was D7000 and a couple of lenses, and other equipment.

First time use D7000, and compared with what I have seen online regarding Canon cameras like 5D and 7D, D7000 is far better in terms of visual quality(sharpeness, film look and grains), though I think the picture is more compressed.

When Nikon come out a FX DSLR like maybe D700 replacement with 1080p HD video...that's it.

Enjoy!

Hi Photographique,

I like the shots in the lift, walking out of the lift and while removing the lock.
Can feel the suspense there.
Shooting from behind furniture and plants also added to the suspense and mystery.

Good job :)

Cheerio !!

nice. like the rawness of some angles.

Good effort! Just out of curiousity, why did u name it 119? Hope i dun sound stupid!

Slightly OT-ing off a bit but having seen a lot of videos by professionals like Philip Bloom and Stillmotion, and advanced amateurs in HDSLR video forums, where people talk about nothing but the 5DMKII, I don't think that there's much difference with videos taken with a Canon or a Nikon (or a Sony), for that matter.

Yeah, I've seen videos taken with Nikons too, though very rarely I come across them but I've never felt that they look so much better (or worse).

Maybe my eyes too beady.

They only talk about Canon cameras like the two most popular for video/film 5D and 7D because there was no other popular, capable and comparable models. D7000 is a brand new model...

What quality/resolution of the video you saw? In order to tell the 'quality', first have to see high resolution, and have see to the raw footage. I just feel that footage from D7000 is much better looking, clearer and much more film like.

Haha.. maybe your eyes are just more 'sensitive' than mine.

I've seen lots and lots of nice, artistic video work from both people who do short films and event videography and personally, I don't really see that there is much of a difference between Canons and Nikons.

And most of their works are logically offered in HD, since they are taken with HDSLRs. No sense not offering HD versions on top of the non-HD versions (in YouTube, at least).

Probably because I look more for the quality of the content, whether they are nice and artistically done, and engaging and moving and invoke emotions and entertain you, just like a good movie will make you forget that it's just a movie (movies that are not well done will make you think more of the techniques and framing and whether it makes sense, you do not find yourself immersed in the story that's being told).

Well, that's just me.

Canon, Nikon or Sony or Olympus - it's the creative work and content that's most important.

nice work; really short shorts are really tough to pull off well.

btw were the noisy images an aesthetic choice or is it the D7000's low light capability (or lack thereof)?

Erm..well ya of course, but because we were talking about the camera, the equipment aspect. Story and content definitely important but its not the technical aspect that I was referring to. Plus maybe you should just rent a D7000 and see the quality of the raw footage, as I mentioned before, it's a realllyyyy new model, not sure if you have seen the quality before, as I suspect not many are using for professional work yet.

Thanks.

I added more noise, but after post more noise appeared as well. I guess the noise just normal for a DX camera like D7000, not lacking but not really exceptional.

Pretty well done.

A little fake blood at the foot of the stairs would add more realism. :bsmilie:

The girl looked so comfortable lying on the steps I thought she was sleeping.

;p

You are very smart, she could be actually sleeping.

I made sure she is at least comfortable my cast are just helping me for a school project.
