Not as good as other IR gurus... but its just the beginning for me! lots of learning / practicing to do :bsmilie:

Thanks Fengwei for the IR converted IR body and the DA18-250!

Just the beginning? A good beginning I would say, shoot more and share with us.

I'm not much of a guy for comments as I too am learning but just a note.
#2 - I would clone off the little bit of tree leaves at the top right.

Yup just the begining :)

Good idea, I will clone that portion off and see how

Faisalee, for #3 u might want to give HDR a try to boost up the range.
Btw where is #3 located, I'm a sucker for scenes like this :)

looks like 18-250 no hot spotting.

worth considering, hrm.

sorry for the late reply here to your pm - the colors if reddish, you didn't set wb properly. modded k100d can set the wb pretty easily and it is alright. you need to fill your frame with grass in the strongest sunlight you can find at current situation, and then set the shutter speed, iso, etc such that you can get a properly exposed shot.. and then custom wb.

as for bluish colors, is because of post processing called a channel swap. basic steps can be found in the stickies in the section here, provided very kindly by some of the ir regulars. if you are free this weekend and want a quick workout on ir, etc.. along with processing, let me know by pm. only sun late afternoon to evening, but the whole of next week is open (including weekdays).

Hmm HDR seems to be a good idea! I have to try that out :)

Oh this is near the Yio Chu Kang MRT. To be exact, its opposit to APPLE / Motorola & NCS building. Near the street 62 Ang Mo Kio. But actually walking distance to YCK mrt  I believe its called Yio Choo Kang road

Lovely place indeed...

Thank you for the detailed answer :)

Actually I was changing WB as the light was changed. Is that the way to do or just take one WB reading and let alone :dunno:

I tried the channel switch but could not get the results from the Sticky! it was either all blue or all red :bsmilie:

FW did tell me about the WB + Channel Switch thingy but looks like I need give it more time hehe...

I think so 18-250 is hot spotting! I just ordered the 18-55 II from amazon

May be one of these days we all IR crazy guys can go out for shoooting at Sentosa or something like that! Will get a chance to learn from the BEST...

Just did some crazy baboonish processing :bsmilie:

Oh I bought the Pentax K100D from a fellow clubsnapper and one of my friends helped me to send it to China for IR conversion... Reliable and Experienced

It costed me $350 for the conversion + $500 for a mint K100D

I could not find any one who could do IR conversions here in SG but some one did mention that Camera Hospital can do the modification for ard $300

do auto levels, before doing channel swapping. because your wb is a bit off. unless you shoot in raw, then select tree leaves as the white balance point and it will turn out fine.

you have to get the correct wb before channel swapping, else you are just going to retain the funny cast and change its color.

no, i don't see any hot spotting, but maybe a greater variety of test shots have to be made. :) i also thought my sigma 10-20 didnt hotspot but it did.

But there is something very strange with the photos I dunno what it is... The center part is brighter compared to the outer part! Its not Vegneting but something else! Can I send Upload a few of them and post here ? It is irritating me

Even can be seen in this particular IR! you can see the trees color in the center is pinkish where as outer parts are blueish! I can see this even before processing it!

F1 F1 F1 please hehe...

this is hot spotting.

Seeee I told you so :embrass:

So its not a sensor or the IR Filter problem right? Hopefully the DA18-55 II will solve this issue  Otherwise I will try a coke bottle hehe...

kit lens I is very good for IR

it's not the sharpest lens in the box but no hotspotting is a big boon..

i am not sure for the II, but if you want to get it, go ahead and let me know what the outcome is. :)

Wow, your first attempt result is good. Keep shooting.
I have been seeing these trees so often but never got chance to shoot. ;p
