MWTS - Nikon F80 black with unfilled warranty

hi, a friend of mine is contemplating selling his black F80 Nikon body which is less than a year old with unfilled warranty. (too bad i already bought mine!! ) He bought the camera from Cathay photo (got proof of purchase some more). He is thinking of selling it to raise funds for his digital camera hopefully at the end of this month when pay day comes!!!

The camera body comes with a cable release, manual and unfilled international warranty. The body is in perfect condition, used less than 10 times. There is some marking under the base of the body due to the tripod. Apart from that, it is like brand new...no scratches, dents or knocks.

He is not sure how much the camera will fetch. He will sell it if he doesn't lugi too much lah, otherwise he will just have to wait another few months before getting his digital camera.

I think the F80 has 3 versions.

F80, F80D and the F80S.

I used to own the F80D, now I'm tempted to buy it again.
This is a very good camera.

Any reserve price, btw?

Not to spoil anyone's sale, but just to point out something.
The unfilled warranty card is useless unless you have the purchase receipt.

They go by the purchase receipt first followed by the warranty card.

So if not receipt = no warranty.

Might want to specify the purchase date so that we can know how much warranty is left.

New ones are CP equoted@ $600.

u need proof of when u purchased. otherwise can say, i bought last week.

i have sent my radio (SHARP), which was under warranty for repair. No one ever asked for a receipt. Has anyone here ever sent anything to Nikon (under warranty) for repair and they asked for your proof of purchase????:dunno:

I sent in my F80 once cos the built in flash died. Yup they did ask for receipt and i had to go back another day. So unfilled warranty don't work. They do need the receipt. I dunno abt Kwanon or Sigma though.

I sent a lens in for adjustments without receipt just the warranty card unfilled. They took my lens in for adjustment, but asked me when I bought the lens. I just filled in the date from memory and they accepted it without proof of purchase.

Have they changed their practice? I believe they can ask for the receipt but ethically they cannot reject or not honour your warranty especially if it is a Nikon Singapore warranty card.

true too. There is a grey area here. I mean if everyone goes in and says i don't have receipt but i bought it last week and if they have to honour the warranty, don't you think that the business will suffer?

nikon will ask for proof of purchase. they asked for it when i brought mine for servicing....

canon. hmm, over the phone, the guy ask me wat date i buy, i told him the date, he input. heh. not sure if they would have asked for the receipt.
