This was close to a year ago. Have they changed their policy recently?

come to think of it, i see what is the big deal about the receipt. All you have to do is to fill in a date in the warranty before you go for servicing.....isn't it??? they won't question what!

;)

i don't see what is the big deal i mean....

Your Nikon equipment is guaranteed against any manufacturing defects for one FULL YEAR from the date of purchase.

During this period, repairs or adjustments will be made free of charge only upon presentation of the Nikon Worldwide Service Warranty Card (Copy 'C', customer's portion)

This warranty must be presented with the purchase receipt or other evidence of purchase to the GLOBAL FILM - SERVICE CENTRE before any repair can be made under warranty.

Establishing the original purchase date should be made.

yah man...i totally agree!!!!!

this is my experience from when i sent my camera for servicing early this yr.

go there. show them camera. they ask for warranty and receipt. i sign the form to hand over the camera, warranty and receipt. warranty, receipt and form stapled together.

Tot this thread is to sell the F80? Suddenly becomes a debate over receipt and no one mentions the F80.

:dunno:

useful info nevertheless :p

If you cannot produce the original receipt, Nikon will actually call up the shop you bought from and verify the purchase date. In any case, if they cannot ascertain the original purchase date, you will have to pay full price for service. Yes, you MUST have original receipt.

I guess they know the trick liao...

This is a pertinent part of the discussion as it does affect the price of a 2nd hand Nikon camera.

What if I got this camera or lens as a gift. Birthday, christmas, etc? I won't have a receipt, but the warranty card is in the box.

Then too bad loh... you have to bear the costs of repairs.

I think if you explain to them the situation with a smile, they will understand. From my experience, the CSO at Nikon Service Center are not bad. Can't say the same for some of the technicians working inside.

Your warranty card will have the dealer's stamp on it. They most likely will call them up to verify the date of purchase.

Thread moved to Consumers Corner as it's a MWTS.
