Have a seldom used AFS 28-70mm F2.8 that I'm thinking of selling. The AF motor has a high pitched whine when focusing though. No sound when manually focussing. Had this sound issue looked at by Nikon service and they said that there's nothing wrong with the lens but they can't get rid of the sound either, short of replacing the SWM. In use the whine is unobtrusive and you don't notice it after a while.
Lens is less than 2 years old. Thinking of selling at $2k. Let me know if interested.
