Mr Zhou's half case for voigtlander bessa (photos)

just received mine in the mail! here are some of my impressions (with photos):

case looks pretty solid and well made, leather is pretty nice and about 2.5mm thick (using my guesstimation)

this is the part i was most afraid of, the loops that go over the metal lugs. due to the thickness of the leather used, it kind of obstructs my voigtlander wide strap (the strap cannot be hung properly... can't find the right words to describe this). could it be solved by cutting off the piece of leather bumper from the strap? have the urge to try and see, but dont have the heart to cut my strap leh. should fit without any problems with gordy's strap if you use the one with the waxed string!

yes, the case does have a gap at the back, due to the built in grip of my R2A. can EASILY be remedied by peeling off the rubber grip, lol.


in all, i'm liking the case but i just can't help but wonder if zhou could have made the lug loops a little wider to accommodate more strap types. just my two cents!

i don't think i've read anything but praises for mr zhou's cases so far haha but no the button is VERY secure!

hmm some observations while using it, the case is slightly thick which may be a good thing but it does make it slightly harder to mount my lens with the focusing knob (nokton 35/1.4) however, its just a small issue lah focusing with is on is still fine, but feels slightly different from a naked camera, as expected anyway

just bought one myself. button very secure, and the case is fits snugly.

if you dun wan to wait for Zhou to post to you, you can also walk into Chiif camera and buy. Chiif got carry stock.

an alternative is Luigi case on www.leicatime.com . His Italian English is quite amusing. His cases are roughly the same but apparently made of Italian leather (more expensive). I am not sure what kind of leather Zhou case is made of, but to me leather type not impt as long as the case protect the camera and give a good grip. alot of ppl very happy with Zhou and Luigi, just a question of cost which you go for i guess.

yep! i was very very much considering getting a luigi (after saving) but i email zhou and ask about a bessa case and coincidentally he told me that he was was just finalizing details on the new bessa case so i decided to wait for it. am quite happy with it and the issue of the strap not mounting properly is (kinda) solved, i cut off the built in bumpers from the A&A (voigtlander branded) strap. quite happy with it now =)
