MP viewfinder upgrade for M6

Hi guys, I would enquire if it is possible to get an MP finder upgrade in Singapore, without having to send the M6 overseas?

On a side note, I noticed that there are articles regarding D.I.Y. tapes and "Shades" that helps cut down the flare on the finder.. may I ask if any of you did it or had purchase any items online that help with the flaring?

I would like to know too!

Bar technical skills of repairman, that would depend if the repair shop has a MP vf lying around, no? Another (cheaper) alternative would be the addtion of a condenser lens in the rf mechanism.

You should just give Schimdt a call on a weekday within office hours and will get your answer. Even if this can be done locally, the wait for the parts will take some time.

I did both. Sent my M6 to Golden Touch/USA to upgrade it to MP's VF. Can't quite recall the cost, I think below S$500 all in. Result: the M6's VF is now much improved, very much like my M4.

I also purchased the "Shade" from HERE. It does cut down the flare somewhat but dims the VF too much for my liking.

You just can't have it cheap n good

BTW, forget about Schmidt SG, useless to say the least. You can predict what the guy is gonna say: "Oh, must send to Germany!" Cost? (=A xxxx , hint: it starts with letter "b" )

Yeah I was considering the Shade as it is affordable. Much affordable than a MP or the viewfinder. Ultimately I would get the finder or the MP but for now, the Shade would be a great alternative.

May I know how long your M had been sent for the USA for?

only S$500? Phillip Tay told me it would almost come up to 1k for a complete replacement of the vf/rf unit.
