1D is quite enjoyable and yet a challenge to use, as you need to know what you want. Having been using it for a while, I find I could get certain shots which I would not have been able to get due to its more precise and quick AF. Get the CANON E1 HANDSTRAP, you'll need it. Overall its more balanced when using with heavier lens, as compared w 350D, you should not miss the built in flash as one should use that only as a last resort.

hi!

buy the 1D, its a great camera, for i never stop my lust of the 1 series after the 1D, i i want to get 1v, i gotten the mk2n after the shortcomings of the 1D but.......

dun give up your 350D, its a great camera in its own right.

Well, I loved the 350D for what it was. Didn't see any flaws with that camera either, and it's a great performer for the price, especially bought 2nd hand at this time.

Managed to sell the 350D last evening, so now I'll be hunting for the 1D in earnest. Hope to get one soon, otherwise I'll be unfamiliar with it on the mid-november trip!

Balance may improve, though it has never been an issue for me. Many would use a grip on the 350D, especially while using heavier lenses to achieve better balance, but I've never needed to do so.

The AF is the thing that really has me going for the 1D. It'll get me plenty of sharp shots that I usually capture a little OOF on the 350D. It only applies to action shots though.

I haven't tried the handstrap in portrait mode before, is it possible to do so? The reason is I shoot almost 90% in portrait mode, so having the strap on landscape is more of a hassle.
