Mount Kinabalu 4095m with Hasselblad XPan

awesome shots, always wanted to climb up there.... but i think my knees cannot take the long flight of steps now.

awesome shots!! the xpan is indeed the perfect camera for the trip..

Climbed Mount K many years back before gg into the Army.. agree some training is preferable but it's definitely doable with just a decent level of fitness. Local porters running up the mountain in slippers carrying LPG tanks on their backs is still a sight I can't forget...

Yeah, the fitter you are the more you are able to enjoy the trip.. lugging along a SLR and few series of lens is no joke as I saw some fellow trekkers struggle to get up with their 1Ds series with big white lens... I salute them... I have learned and carry only one camera...

Thanks for sharing...lovely shots with the Xpan...climbed twice...first time heavy rain with a Nikon F4s...second time with a M8 rangefinder...may do it again in near future with my kids...thanks for sharing...

I was actually planning to bring my Speed Graphic and a 5D up!

Mamypoko, when you reach Laban Rata 3500m plus. You have to decide which camera to bring up... The trek from base camp onwards need both arms as there are ropes to go up...

Ah okay,

Personally I will probably holster my 5D to my chest with a prime, while the Graphic would only be deployed at the summit.

Otherwise I'll drop the 5D and bring a LX3 as my digital backup

Really nice photos, always wanted to go but never found a chance. This should be one of my targets after I recover.

What type of training did you do by the way? I had friends who hardly ever exercise go there and reach the summit, of course while they are young.

Amazing photos indeed! May I ask which film did you use for this trip, do you develop them yourself or send to a shop? I normally get some scratches and defects on my negatives from shops. They show up quite clearly on my scans as I do not have Digital ICE on my scanner

Same! Did when I was 16. Thought I'd do it again when I'm 32 then again at 64 & 128 & so on. Am 35 now & I'm 3 years overdue.
