Most Dreamy Leica/M mount/LTM Lens

I know it's pretty subjective and personal, but which M mount lenses are considered to be the most dreamy ones besides the Noctiluxes?

You can try buy a filter and apply vaseline -- it is an old trick, but hey, cheaper than buying a noctilux! ;p

Very true... sometimes, lenses that are imperfect can provide this too! read haze / damaged coating etc

I think my Konica Hexanon 50mm F2 is quite dreamy shot wide open. It's an awesome soft light lens. Just don't use it in intense daylight, you'll get coma, flaring, purple fringing.

That would be the very rare Leica Thambar 90mm F2.2.

Would the 75 Summilux be considered dreamy too?

Recipe for dreamy requires one part lens, one part lighting and 10 parts composition....
Not an easy feat...

Canon f0.95 very dreamy !!! Bokeh out of the world kind

dreamy is a very subjective term for lenses.

i would venture and say any sonnar-type lens would be dreamy...

some would say the the canon 1.5 is IT because it is soft wide-open.

others would add that bokeh and bubbles makes the dream, this would include
the Pre-ASPH 35mm Cron, as well as the planar-design canon 50/1.2...

But i agree that technique probably plays a big part of it...

Shot today,
it was shot wide-open,
one eyes in focus,
the other a bit out of focus.
would this qualify as dreamy ?
(yes, shot with a Sonnar Lens)

I like the nice dreamy bokeh from the 50mm F1.4 Summilux ASPH (latest version)....

Very nice portrait photos from this lens.

Dreamy is referring to what?

To me, dreamy means soft in centre and got coma.

To me, 50 lux ASPH is not dreamy. Its razor sharp.

To me, yes sonnar is dreamy

Somehow to me, dreamy besides lighting and composition, is how the colour, glow and bokeh looks. Out of focus areas will have impressionistic paintings kind of feel. But that's just me.

I like the Zeiss C Sonnar T* 1,5/50 ZM, shot wide open. Dreamy! :)

Fastest Sonnar: Zunow50f1.1

(just to poison everyone here, my 2 x canon 1.5 is in cla... will offer them soon :)

Actually, Canon50f1.2 is not soft. It's pretty sharp if the focus is right.
