Yes you are right Sulhan, also what i like about the Dynax 7 is that it stores data for 7 rolls of film so that it helps me to study, where i went right and where i went wrong, I just bought Dynax 7 2nd hand selling off my F75 today, and am really happy with it. Alot more funcitonality which allows me to learn more. Guys your comments have really been helpful. Many thanks

Beside the data store, learn to use the honeycomb reading display. it shows the metering value, thus you can adjust to compensate accordingly. Dynax 7 is a great learning tool! Have fun and keep shooting!

Welcome to the club. :)

How much did u pay for your D7? Where did u buy it from?
Getting the VC-7?

I got it at $880 with the 24-105mm and 100-300mm lens, all in brand new condition with 12months warranty. 2nd hand from person selling on hardware zone. Only issue was that the camera actually had a dust speck on the prism, but was told that it does not affect the end picture.

It's the vertical grip meant for taking portrait shots in comfort. U should get it budget allowing - $240. It has a shutter release, plus spot metering button, and front and rear dials. It also enables u to use AA batteries with the Dynax 7. And it balances out the weight of a long lens in the landscape mode very well and balances out the weight of the 5600HS very well in the portrait mode. It's worth the money. U should get the 5600HS flash as well. It's excellent. I bought mine 2nd hand for $350. It's going new for around $550.

BTW, RC-1000 remote cable at 10 bucks! Cheap!! It is the 0.5m version. I think I think a brand new one will cost 3x - 5x.

Cable + Tripod = Poor Man IS!

Hmm..... so it's the short one lar........ thanks!

Actually it's very easy to fashion a cable release for a Dynax/Maxxum camera. All you need is a Analogue CD-Audio CDrom cable and 2 button switches.

If you check the connection, its only 3 pins. One of ground, one for focus and one for shutter.

Hiee...

I have gone through that route and used it with my 404si.....a couple of years back.....

I trimmed the connector to fit the socket on the camera and retrofit the switch into a fat ball pen body......so when triggering looks like the old days cable release.....press from the top....

BUT!!!!!!.....once i was kinda in a rush and accidentally bend the leads on the camera........luckily it did not break.....

From then on....saved up for the RC-100s....and till today....great investment...

regards,
Sulhan

I'm using the 'long' one.. can't remember the model no. Anyway, the 'short' one is more than enough for my application so far.. just too greedy 2 years ago :D

???? Serious ar?!

Well... I guess I buy one if it doesn't cost too much!

Correction, using a mini-molex(those 3.5inch floppy power connectors) and cutting off one part is a much better choice.;)

If you can get a remote release for cheap, that's fine. But DIY allows you to make it as long as you will ever need and long ones if I remember correctly, don't come cheap.

So far, I've done up electronic cable releases for Minolta, Canon and Nikon cameras. The minoltas and canons are the simplest, can get the sockets(or compatible ones) off the shelf, Nikon ones are much much harder to fashion due to their proprietary mini-din connector that cannot be found in SLT.:)
