Does anybody own one of these? I am considering getting one because of the built-in diopter adjustment. Do they work well? I read some of those cheaper M eyepieces are quite quirky. Price seem reasonable considering the Leica ones only do half the job.

I have two and I think they are great! But you lose the wide angle framelines.

Cheers,

I've got one but don't like the diopter adjustment-no marking to let you dial to & it doesn't stay in dailed position.
So when it's blur you're not quite sure if it's oof or diopter is off. :(Maybe, it's just my copy.

my the same but as I'm very "blind" i just need to adjust all the way to the back -3;)

is the diopter ring rubber lined? so it won't scratch the glasses for those of us that need to wear them.. even with -3. heh.

Many thanks all. I am ordering one right now.

Doesn't look like it from the pictures provided. Maybe a small piece of gaffer tape will prevent scratches and the diopter from running off.

The old man has some soft round thing that sticks on the finder to prevent scratches on your glasses... pay him a visit.

the same one that cameraquest sells? will probably drop by the next time round i am in sg... can get a quote to clean that piece of glass in the vf also. heh.

Mine was the same. Since it will not stay in place inside a bag, it defeats the purpose of shooting fast with a Leica (which is what I bought the Leica for). I tried putting markings and gaffer tape, to no avail. I could have used glue, but stopped. Besides that, I found it had a slight effect on the clarity of the viewfinder, can't live with these deficiencies, so I had to give it up. I asked them to tell the manufacturer to look into updating the design, they said ok, that was years ago so I don't know if they did. I recommended this accessory in this forum last time, but now I have changed my mind after more experience with it.

Many seem to like it though. Anyway, Megaperls (Japan Exposures) has some good film, I still get some from them especially Polaroids and 4x5.

Wow. The shipping is efficient. Put mine on, adjusted it and stuck a small piece of gaffer tape on. Beautiful. 35mm is now the minimum, fine for me.

Say, what is that about 35mm being the minimum ? You mean the magnifier does not work for lenses wider than 35mm ? The enlarged image overruns the viewfinder ?

The field of view into the viewfinder is now smaller. The 24 and 28mm on the M8 are obscured.
