Me and my Zorki 4

So my Zorki 4 finally arrived last week via USPS. Couldn't wait to run a few rolls in.

Here's a look at my Zorki taken from my mobile camera.

Without the light meter, as a noob to film cameras, I struggled alot on getting the right exposure. I ran my first roll and decided to try out the Sunny 16 rule when my eldest son was out swimming. Set my aperture to f16, shutter to 1/500 (on an ISO 400 film), but was completely over exposed. Arghh !!!.. I'll run another roll on ISO 100 to try out again.

Here are some shots of my 2nd daughter after her ballet class at I12.

Here are some additional shots taken from home starting from my youngest daughter.

Thanks Ray for stopping by. Yes will definetely push up more. Thanks.

nice bro...saw it on ur blog..
saw a bally bag in the backgrd haha..

Just tip on light metering...if u own an iphone or andriod phone, can always download the lightmeter apps..so far they are pretty accurate...all u need to do is, take a reading outdoor and +1 ev for places under shade. and that would do the trick

Haha. Thanks yah. That's my bag. Unfortunately I have a Nokia lumia and don't have an iPhone or android. That's the issue. There are 2 light metres on windows mobile and one shows the luminence which I don't know how to convert. The other helps in a way but I suspect its crapped as a good bright day, at iso100 and at f2, my shutter it prompts me is 1/2 secs. Gasp!!!

Sheesh … Whenever I load in an ‘expensive’ film, it’ll fail on me. The other time on my Yashica GSN was a Kodak BW400CN. It snapped on me, and me being a noob open it, stared at it, and had my entire film spoilt due to my stupidity.

This time, for some reason, my Kodak Ektar 100 got stuck while shooting halfway on my Zorki 4. Darn it … You know these films cost like S$9 bucks per roll. Arghhhhhh !!!!.. so again, being the noob, I roll back my film, tried to get it unstuck before I begin shooting again, knowing I would get multiple exposures, but I didn’t have much choice. So what happened ? The below happened. Arghh !!!

But I just had to carry on, and hope for the best. Here are some of the better ones.

But again, being the super noob, I was afraid of wasting the entire film, as either my Zorki 4 film counter is spoilt or I don’t know how to use it, hence I couldn’t estimate at which number of shot I screwed up, so I didn’t want to have too many multiple exposures, hence I stopped. But being the silly noob again, I wasted half my roll unexposed due to my fear. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!.. Nevermind.. Try again .. everytime something happens, we learn and get better right ?

Here's the final roll from my Zorki 4. As usual, filled with the little ones. I was quite impress with the first few shots. Camera was sharp and DOF was excellent. Do not know why this time there were less grain. Perhaps I was using the Fuji C200, hence less grain.

Anyway... here they are in its full glory (i.e. without post processing at all. Directly from the scanned and passed to me by Triple D)

old cameras has this issue, on film snapping...

Don't forget that older Canon and Leica lenses will fit the Zorki.

Had a great time chatting with a fellow CSER ableit in a carpark, and he was telling me about B&W film. I bought a Tri-X 400 to try and I really love the tone and contrast of it.

Looks like I'll be stocking up on Arista Premiums soon.

Here's a few maiden shot on the Tri-X 400 from my Zorki 4, which is fast becoming my fav camera as I personally feel I got a good copy of it. Great working body, and a very sharp Jupiter 8.

Beautiful kids and beautiful pictures! I haven't been taking pictures of my kid much due to work and your pics makes me feel like starting again. :)

Nice! If you like what you see from the scan wait till you see them on prints! Also, if you have space to spare at home or in the office you might wanna consider getting a scanner. You should be able to get a lot more shadow details out from these negs.

I've been shooting with a Kiev 4 lately myself, bought a FED2 and paired it with a Jupiter 8 as well.

Thanks for dropping by. Yes, they'll only be young for that long, so have to do their age justice and shoot until can give them an entire collection when they're older. Haha.

Hey bro, thanks for dropping by. Likely to run another tri x before going for arista.

I got a vf330 but the ice sucks man. Can't remove the scratches. Hence I also ask triple D to scan. Though I find konota scans better.

You've got a really good copy there... congratz and keep shooting beautiful pictures ;)

Glad to see you having fun with the Zorki. The pictures seem to get better as you spend more time with it.

Cheers,

Thanks for the comments. Only thing I hate is the winding of film in between shots. You have to turn the knob.
