sorry new to videography but is FCP compatible with MBP 13" (2.26Ghz, 4G RAM) require your cents before making purchase of the FCP.

best is 2.33ghz or 2.66ghz and above as recommended by FCP's minimum system requirements......Years ago, i've edited on 12" powerbooks and trust me, it was painful with the small screen....I'm living with 15" minimum for mobile edits now.

yeah definitely. but like what dxnmedia said, the screen could be an issue depending on individual. i work minimum on a 15" screen, though that now seems a little small when i upgraded myself to 23" ones...

you'll be fine with your config.

if i remember correctly,FCP does not work on integrated graphic cards
It will only work on MBPs 15" and above

it's possible to force install FCP even into the white macbooks.

At the end of the day, the hardware would slow down everything to a crawl. An external 7200rpm hdd for scratch is advisable, but it wouldn't aid much in rendering. The graphics card is pretty minimal on the lower macbook pros, thereby your mbp would take hours or days for rendering HD video. It might be a bit easier working with SD video.

hope this helps

FCP will work on Macbook. Its Motion that won't be able to run.

I've tried editing .mov files from a Canon HDSLR and it seems that iMovie has no problem editing HD movies, just that of course the editing workflow cannot be compared to a full-fledged editor like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut.

But it seems that rendering and all that, doesn't seem to be as slow as I thought it would be. In fact, it's pretty ok for someone like me who doesn't depend on video production for his living.

And oh, I am running on a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 13.3" Macbook Pro, with about 750GB of HDD space.

I just wonder if I were to purchase Final Cut Express 4 or even Final Cut Pro, would I be able to edit the .mov files. Otherwise, probably I have to just edit with my PC equipped with the ancient Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, which doesn't take .mov files from HDSLRs, it seems.
