I am in Japan now. Have been to quite a number of the big camera shops and they are taking pre-orders for the 30D. The price is 158,000 yen (body only) and that translates to about $2250 thereabouts in Sing dollar.

Camera bodies only Jap warranty but lenses have international warranty.

If james_pda can really get the stocks in by next week, that's really quite fast. I have asked the sales people here and they told me only coming into the shops at the end of the month. And obviously there will be a long waiting list at this kind of price.
