Got got this new toy today. :)
Is it really true 1HR charge is enuff ? Meaning compared to other chargers which require like 2 to 4 hrs charging .... "Strength" of the Batt will be uncompromised with this 1HR quick charge?

Yes it's true

When the 801 says it's full it really is.

Did this test once after the 801 completed charging my batteries I took them out and placed them in the La Crosse charger.

The La Crosse charger displayed FULL.

There's one that even offers 15min quick charge. I guess it's abt pumping in alot of high current into the batt, will probably damage it in time so I would maybe suggest do a soft/conditioning charge periodically.

Agreed. Had the same experience.... Seemed to have more energy loss in terms of heat during charging for the Sanyo batts.

Charging wise, I find that 1 hour is typically enough for the batteries I am using (Powerex 2700s and Sanyo 2500s) for the C801D. I do not find much difference in charging capability between the C801D vis-a-vis my Sanyo charger when it comes to fully charging a battery, both are around the same when the status says charging complete [I do not try to achieve 100% by topping off]. The only difference is the time taken to achieve the same status (Maha seemed to be faster from my experiences). However, been using the 8-cell charger these days more for convenience than anything else. ;)

YMMV.

Strange. Purchased the charger last evening and charged SANYO batteries of 2100mHA & 2500mHA in soft charging mode. The batteries are a little warm after complete charge.

Cheers! :)
