M9 with Nikon / Oly / Canon flashgun?

Can't find any posting with regards to whether M9 or M8 can use any other flash, especially Nikon's.

Has anyone tested any of the combination?

Please advise a RF newbie here ..

M9 can use any flash if you know how to set manually flash meter, any cheapo flash will do. except for TTL metering you need Leica SF24 or SF58.

Modern flash I think are ok but older ones may kill M9 circuit. Do a search in Leica User forum, there were some discussions about M8 & flash use in the earlier days. I remember they recommend some "Wein" adapter to protect the camera circuit.

Correct Its $40-65 I think.... but not sure we he will find it here in SG.

Dfive, thanks for the headup. Yes, I came across a forum a long time ago with regards to the cam body being fried by the flash voltage.

Will check further.

This is with old old school flashes... I suggest Metz its good. actually leica flashes are rebadged metzs..

Really?! I have a Metz 54 MZ4 with Nikon adaptor .. can it be used or must I buy an adaptor for Metz?
