M8 Shutter problems

Anyone has ran in shutter problems with the M8?

During my last holidays, I was trying to shoot a portrait of my wife in the plane and the shutter suddenly went crazy. Showing a msg ' SHUTTER FAULTY'. My whole heart sank. That was the beginning of my holidays. I was thinking :dunno::dunno::dunno:

I try shut down, taking out the len, taking out batt etc... to no avail while on the plane.
I try again the next day.. same prob.. but my persistence finally paid off..

DOes anyone experience that before?
Any comments truly appreciated.

someone we both knew, exactly on the 3rd year, just when warranty over
the shutter jam...
Now sent back to Solms..
dunno how much it cost..
I asked him to change to M9 directly dun waste time
He said unless they offer him a good trade in price for his M8..

Bro, I suggest give Andrew @ Schidmt a call to ask for his experience. I would not send the camera in unless it happens again so that they can troubleshoot on the spot.

Define "Shutter Went Crazy"

Jammed? Keep firing? What?

Luckily you managed to get it working again during the trip.

This is why I always thought a good "order of battle" is to have one Film M and one Digital M.

It's jammed and will not fire. Then you got to off the power and then on it back again. 50% chance the shutter will cork again. Then try and shoot again then the same problem...

This is why I always thought a good "order of battle" is to have one Film M and one Digital M.

I got my wife's C-Lux 3 to fall back on.. but like what you say, Film M is a good option but not cheap but worth to consider...

Good for you. There are sometimes good deals on M6s.
