i understand that the M8.2 has this feature - "Another new feature is a quick exposure compensation setting: When the shutter release button is pushed to the first pressure point, a correction of +/- 3 stops in 1/3 steps can be made with the dial on the back of the camera. The setting is shown in the viewfinder."

is this present on the M8 after a firmware update or does this require CLA from solms?

thanks!

This feature is not available on the M8 and can't be added via CLA. It is a firmware feature of the M8.2.

I personally find it hard to use because the shutter release on my M8.2 is quite sensitive. It's difficult to half-press and hold it while turning the dial with your thumb. Just my experience.

Same experience. :)

I did not use the exposure compensation feature on the M8.2 but when i used the M9 during a recent trip i did find it quite useful. Not sure about the M8.2 but with the M9 you could choose in the menu to either do it through the normal menu or change it just by turning the dial behind or by half depressing the shutter and turning the dial. I used the half depress + turn dial and it was quite easy to do and get used to. Definitely an improvement over the M8 in which i hardly use exposure compensation feature cos it quite leh che and slow to set.

thx for the info guys!

reading thru RF forums seem to indicate that they are having problems putting M9 into people's hands, even in EU. i would think EU would be better off, but guess not.
