M8 Firmware 1.110

This seems to add detection for the new Summarits. Still no SDHC support which I suspect is more HW related.

Yup, still no SDHC support. Early specs show that the M8 will support SDHC but its still not supported until now. Will be really disappointed if SDHC support doesn't show up. If I'm not wrong, the DMR does not support SDHC as well.

Don't know what techie stuff they've added in the new 1.110 firmware but my preliminary test shot after updating the new firmware show Auto White Balance is better; quite accurate both indoors and outdoors.

Anyone has any observations about the AWB?

Rgds/Fred

Nothing on AWB and other users report no change.

M8 Firmware Update 1.110
The new firmware version 1.110 for the LEICA M8 is available on the Leica homepage under the link "UPDATES". Please read the instructions on how to update your camera.
The update adds these improvements to your camera:
- 6 Bit lens codes for Summarit-M lenses 35, 50, 75 and 90 mm
- Time shortened between pre-flash and main flash in M-TTL mode with flashes LEICA SF24 D and SCA compatible flashguns
- Function of the central setting wheel on the camera back improved (unintentional scrolling of the menu now prevented)
- Battery capacity display improved
- Change in the French menu: «Marche +UV/IR» instead «Marche avec»

Hi,

As far as I could see, no change in AWB.

I don't think it SDHC will ever be supported through software. Otherwise, it should have been done by now. I suspect there will be a "silent" M8 upgrade, i.e. with new production if not in a totally new model (say, M9 or M8 mk II).

So, don't hope. You should try circumvent the problem with buying 150X SD cards instead (4GB are made by Transcend, Apacer, Ridata, etc). It works on the M8, though some card readers will detect it as unformatted.
