hee, to take my mind off all the gloom, doom, and guessing, i decided to test a new product on my favourite model.
product is the lumiquest softscreen, $20 at cathay (price tag says $40  )
picture says a thousand words. here are three thousand words:
100% crop:
all shots with pttl mode. the shots with the screen are warmer, i'm not sure if this is because the screen has a yellow cast (doesn't look like it), or cause it cuts down flash output, so the ambient light (very yellow lamp) had more effect.
ok lah, no miracles, this is a $20 item put on the built-in flash. it does soften the shadows a bit. maybe more useful for macros...
the back of the screen is supposed to slot into the flash shoe, but as usual, it doesn't fit minolta flash mount. so had to do some creative velcro-ing to secure it. no problem for those jumping ship to nikon
now... anyone want to DIY?
