Hu guys I'm looking to buy varavon slidecam lite 600.. what do you guys think ? I saw online vediamod.com they have wide range of slider. .. u think I should get the very basic kind of slider or what brand do yourr guys recommend me ... budget around 250 to 350
I highly recommend it! It is almost weightless and very smooth. But not recommended for heavy set up as the slider plate is very small. The slider head needs occasional maintenance as the internal screws can loosen after several outings. (Especially if you like to pan and tilt on a slide) Not difficult to take apart but require a long nose plier for adjustment.
oh thanks so much, i think i should be buying from this online store. I check around and their thing is really cheaper than going peninsula shopping center or peninsula plaza.
oh i already bought it from online .. i using it for travel. kind light and i guess is a good deal !!! $285 dollar is it cheap for slidecam lite 600 .. can't find any cheaper than that omg

On my planned trip, I thinking of a slider but thinks back, my gears already a lot. Need time to setup slider and other stuffs, too troublesome. I just stick to 2 dslr and tripod and use s/w to pan.
I've also wondered the same. After using a regular single-piece slider for some time, my guess is it's not as simple as it sounds, as you have to ensure that such a joint is absolutely seamless. As even a tiny little bump or irregularity will show up in your footage. I'm no engineer, but my guess is that the challenges involved in designing such a mechanism are not simple, as it has to: 1) Be durable - remain rigid and straight after extended use with equipment weighing 2-5kg at least 2) Easy to use and assemble 3) Cost effective to implement/manufacture 4) Compact/light
That said, I remember one kickstarter project that featured a slider assembled from 3 pieces. This one seems like it might be durable & affordable but that not easy to use. Not sure how it worked out because the product doesn't seem to be available anymore:
Making the SlideeGo travel-sized was a big challenge. We finally found the solution by using inserts to assemble the three 12 inches rails together. It is the simplest way to get a perfect alignement for keeping the cart sliding smoothly. In the backpack, the rail is 12x3x1 inches and the cart is 5x3x3 inches. The SlideeGo can be used on the ground or mounted on a tripod.
