Looking for Feedback on Photo Book Printing

Looking for feedback on photo book print quality from Asuka, Zulu, Blurb, Photobook and Gloryworkz.

I used AlbumStories and Montage and they are both hopeless bad. Photo resolution, colors and exposure are just plain awful. It's as though they used some cheapskate printer. Both engage the print services at 60 Kaki Bukit Place, #02-09 Eunos Techpark, (S) 415979. Please avoid these awful shops.

Any input will be greatly appreciated

Gloryworkz is expensive, but I used them for album prints, DVD box & DVD print. Overall experience is good and the album quality is great (visually for me).

before you send your files to anyone, do you ensure you have embed the correct color profile, corrected the color balance, no banding or artefact in your files, fulfilled all the technical requirement given by the printer?

and do you know you can request some test prints at a small cost, before you placing an order of a photobook?

I will suggest you give feedback to them, find out what's going wrong with your photobook before you bring it to someone else.

I use Photobook most of the time as they are quite cost effective and print outs are quite close to color reproduction. To play safe the best is stick to sRGB color profile which is the most commonly used.

I used Blurb. The resolution they produce isnt what i expected. Looks like a xerox machine print out instead. Nice book binding hardly compensates for the poor resolution. Has not used others but i believe the print out quality (from what i see in Gloryworks retail store) is the same: low

Hope this helps.

FYI, photobook is not the same as photo-album.

quality are different. in term of papers and print out.

go down the any showrooms to see it yourself.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I am beginning to have a better understanding now. :)

My photos are of high quality with the correct color profile. My biggest problem is the rather rude response from the folks at Kaki Bukit print house. :bsmilie:

You are so darn right. I was expecting my photo book to turn out like my wedding album.... and unsurprisingly it was a major disappointment. This site explains it best:

"While photo books (the type you buy from online suppliers) are printed by digital presses on regular (double sided) paper, in a process very similar to the printing of a business brochure, wedding albums are printed using a different photographic process onto photo paper, similar to 8×10 photo prints....

Photo Albums – as mentioned, are printed on a single sided photo paper via a photographic process (similar to a 8 x 10 print), typically on Pro paper (which handles the image better and has much better durability."

Luckily, after trying those "best" photo book maker, I end up knowing the true meaning of the word as well as found who's really the best. It's absolutely not Asuka, Zulu, Blurb, Shutterfly or blah blah blah... It's just SNAPS. As in Snaps.sg.
