Looking for Assistant/Apprentice

Am looking for a second PA (Photographer's Assistant) for next year, expected to start work in Jan 2006. He/She will complement my present team and understudy my present PA who will be leaving in 2006 to pursue further studies.

Other requirements :-
1 - You must be able to help carry my lights and lightstands.
2 - You must be a fast & willing learner, I prefer those without prior knowledge/experience.
3 - You must be able to work full-time, at least from 1st Apr 06 onwards.
4 - You will be expected to help on-site with crowd control and recording. You will also be expected to help with data-entry and post-processing after the shoots.
5 - You are expected to be punctual and reliable.
6 - You are expected to be responsible and have some common sense.
7 - Familiarity with Nikon-based mounts will be a bonus.

I hope to groom a full-fledged, full-time photographer eventually to take over up to half of my assignments. Your work will be primarily people-based portraits (groups/indivudal/corporate) by that time.

Thank you for all the Upz, Kijer and Xotic, while I was away for a retreat.

To clarify a query I received - the person I'm looking for should, ideally, be committed to a permanent position with our business. Or if he/she opts to be a PA only, then I'm looking for at least a full year-long commitment.

Some advance advice for applicants -
Be Punctual. If you are unable to make it, inform the host/interviewer beforehand. Not to show up on time and only more-than-half-an-hour-later to SMS the host is an outright show of a disrespect. Such individuals do not deserve a place.

My priority is to find a full-time/regular PA and an apprentice. However, I will also consider good youngsters who can demonstrate a good attitude and who can add value to the business, they can always join our pool of PAs and benefit from the network here.

Thank you, various kind friends, for the many upz you've given this thread.

I shall be (finally!) meeting up with the last one or two candidates this weekend. Am very hopeful to settle this all before year ends. Everyone who has emailed me will be getting a reply by Friday. Thank you for your support. For those whom we've met, but did not get to join me in the end, do not be disappointed. There are other routes, other approaches to learning.

There is still the possible opportunity via our little PA/photog network that we have. Some of our recent additions have gained a lot from it. You can gun for my regular AG outings. Hope to see some of you there.
