longer than SliderOne, shorter than Myrmica...

This came timely. Almost buying the sliderOne when i saw this.

Looks interesting at 1/3 the price (SliderOne dropped to USD 299).

Question is if the slider function is smooth enough? It doesn't look like there are ball bearings to this slider.

Great share!!!

the ratrig systems look nice, anybody interested in doing diy project together?

i know of an aluminium shop at jalan besar that may be able to replicate the ratrig

btw, the debo system (slider system) < won't be "butter-smooth", i have similar kamerar slider. the balance of the camera is important for getting good slides from these systems (friction-based)

Do you know of a light slider with motor that can do long exposure timelapse ?

Thanks

varavon? wahaha =D < it's quite portable already (compared to the others)

u can also take a look at this < cheap and potentially good (for you coz you have radian2)

Yes, the problem is that radian2 is not really compatible with Nikon cameras. I send an email to them and their answer is that they are still trying to figure out why some Nikon works and some doesn't work ...

If you notice, their tutorial always use Canon camera and they connect the Canon camera straight to the micro-usb port. So far, I cannot find such cable for Nikon. Even the guys at Alpine ask to get 2 types of cables (one is an adapter) and if doesn't work "try" use the trigger cable like what we used the other say at Esplanade ... so trigger cable can only activate the turning ... but it cannot control the shutter speed and aperture from your the Apps ...

This bug still remains for Nikon, so the radian2 really didn't serve the purpose that I wanted to use it for ... kinda disappointed with Alpines as they cannot solve this problem "yet" ...

maybe I will try on my Panasonic GX8 and see if it works ...

Cheers

I would love to have a slider that folds into half. How about we study Nebo's design, miniaturize it further and use tent-poles as rods? For me, 50cm that folds down to 25cm would be perfect.

It will appeal to both timelapse and video enthusiasts.

I think a 4 castor carriage is an overkill. Two castors in a single file sandwiched between two rails should be good enuf for mirrorless cameras.

But Rodney, this doesn't have a motor, so cannot be used to do timelapse ... :)

diy slider (using kamerar wheels) plus some metal plates

add on a beholder ds1 => helps prevent the minor bumps on uneven surface

compact, scalable =)

I just ordered an Edelkrone SliderOne.

Will update everyone when it arrives

That is brilliant! barring any severe y axis bumps, I think it will look like a dolly shot. Now I'm regretting selling the iFlow which sucked by itself but will perfect if paired with a gimbal.

What's the damage, bro ?

But does it come with a motor or is it a manual slider ?

Thanks

Yea how much is the Edelkrone Slider One? Am looking at either that or the Kamerar 23" (going at 160$ rrp)

edelkrone offers portability, i have seen some clones at funan (but haven't seen any that is well-made / stable)

kamerar gives you ability to slide longer distance (plus wheels - for even longer distance) (but there is always a need for dual support = 2 tripods)

Just received the Edelkrone SliderOne. Off the bat, very smooth and feels much more stable on a tripod than the Myrmica due to the wider base and shorter track.

Only complaints are that there isn't a 1/4"-20 thread for smaller tripods. No 3/8"-16 bushing included either. Same story for the 3/8"-16 screw on the slider carriage. No 1/4"-20 screw included for smaller heads. Cannot mount camera directly to the SliderOne without a head or an adapter. Very large oversight in my opinion. Ironic that the SliderOne won't work directly with the QuickRelease One!!
The other obvious fault is the lack of centre lock. Carriage can only be locked on one end of the slider.
Very tricky when adjusting tripod height.
As for the 20 cm track length, a little less shiok. Got to slide really slow to compensate for the lack of distance.
Composition-wise, it means using even closer foregrounds and wider lenses to exegerate the limited slide distance.

I have some similar gripe.

But the major one is the locking and friction knob on both side isn't really clear. Even when you tightened both, center column still moves!

But I am happy w the weight and size savings.
