Lomography: Newbie's Qns.

Couple of questions to ask and get advice about.

1) LC-A+ or Smena 8M a better buy?
2) What's the difference between the 2 cameras?
3) Anybody know of any cheap lobang to get the cam?

LC-A+ more ex. but to me, both cameras take really good pictures. see which one suits you better lor.

hey there! thanks for the quick reply. but if i wanted to have high contrast and vignetting in my pics, can both the cameras do the same effect?

i'm thinking if LC-A+ and Smena 8M acheives the same effect and has the same functions, i might as well get the 8M coz its cheaper rite? =X

LC-A+ now made out of china plastic not as hardy compared to the previous LC-A. LC-A+ also has light meter. the camera will know when to close shutter when picture is well exposed. LC-A lens also give very good colours and vignetting. i dont really know much about smena. so i cant help you there.

lol... still comtemplatng whether to get the LC-A+ or Smena 8M.

but the specs for LC-A+ is definitely better, but more expensive.

lca+ has these which smena 8m doesnt - 1) light meter for better exposure, 2) hotshoe which most flash 3) easier loading (mention this becos i hate 8m's loading)

smena 8m has these which lca+ doesnt - 1) aperture settings, 2) shutter speed settings.

so if u prefer point n shoot, i say lca+, if u're a more 'technical' guy, say the smena 8m. it's like a rangefinder without the viewfinder :bsmilie: .

seen great results from the vivitar, though my first roll wasnt that good cos of the of the film i used.

u can have have hotshoe for smena if you buy the hotshoe-to-pc adapter. ; )

you can get a refurbished lca at lomography.com. cheaper than lca+ however lacks some features the lca+ has. or you can try ebay.

dam good deal la. i got mine for 450SGD from lomo intl. however, it came with coloursplash flash,hipshot bag and fisheye lens.

dam strange. lomo asia sell lca+ standard package for 400 SGD. no flash, no bag, no lens. you pay 50 dollars more. u can get flash,lens,bag from international.

After toying around with so many lomo cams, i love my lca the best.
