lightweight tripod to recommend?

need the above for travelling, but strong enough to hold my camera (no heavy/long lenses in use). oh, and also mustn't be bulky.

One of the best compact tripods is the Gitzo G1001, or it's 4-section cousin, the G1026. Not cheap though, the G1001 costs $215 + GST without head. Can take a load of 2+ kg, collapses to 17" (w/o head) and extends to about 1.2m including the centre column (but excluding head).

Alternatively, get the older, discontinued G01 if you can find it used somewhere. I got it in Buy & Sell for about $200 including head and bag. :)

Money no object go for the carbon fibre versions, the G1027 and G1028. G1027 costs $300 odd.

You can goto CP. Now they have a promotion for slik include ball head. about $90 but I think it too light, maybe good choice for you :)
 

Any idea whats the price of a Gitzo Mountaineer Mountaineer G1128G with a simple ball head ??
