LightSphere and Minolta 5600HSD

hi guys.., need some confirmation here.., I'm thinking of getting a LightSphere II to complement my 5600HSD flash, but not sure which type/size to get.

have read/search in CS, someone mentioned P3 is a perfect fit, while searching in dpreview someone mentioned using P2.

can anyone give confirmation? I'm ordering online (not direct to US though ;p ) so cannot compare on the spot.

think i got the P2, cos GF dun own a minolta system, so based on the 5600 with a big tab on the bottom, he selected P3, but i gotten a P3 at 1st, then changed to P2 immediately...

if in doubt, bring your flash head to buy.

based on the self-sizing chart and measure of the 5600HSD flash head, it looks like P2 that'll fit the width, ~77mm.

so P2 it is..?

it for P1. very tight fitting but still squeezable. never used it . it was included along with some purchase i bought sometime ago...

u got to squeeze it really hard..it can still fit...ask bro zcf.
he need to velcro his hsd5600 inorder to fit the ls P2 snugly on it

the trick is to stick ur thumb inside the funnel and push out the opening while slotting in the flash. Don really have to squeeze too hard

I using LSII Clear P3 with inverted dome on 5600HS(D).
P3 will be perfect fit & tight, need a bit of squeeze.
As in the DVD, notice Gary stick the thumb inside the funnel and
push out the opening while slotting in the flash.
You may cut a slot for the tab to ensure even more tight fit.

P2 will be loose, need to velcro 5600HS(D) inorder to fit.


Note the weight of the LSII with inverted dome will exert force to the flash.
Thus, the flash will have difficulty in maintaining the set position.

can you elaborate? does it mean difficult to maintain when the flash head in tilt position, like 45degree or something like that?

Landscape taking;
90deg is defined as flash head pointing ceiling
0deg is defined as flash head pointing direct to the front subject

A) Weight of the LSII with inverted dome.
[Consider a bit heavy vs weight of flash head area.]
B) Movement force on the flash mounted on camera body+lens.
C) Holding angle of the flash mounted on camera body+lens.

<For using LSII with inverted dome, usually is set at 90deg for landscape taking.>
The flash head tilt postion when set to 90deg, it may slips forwards to 0deg position
due to the total react happens on event(s) A, B and C.

Extra weight & force is acting on the head area of the flash to the tilting mechanism at the flash (centre), thus the mechanism loose the set position and jump to another position.


FYI: tcw and op also selling them at afforable price,
look like non-orginal product without DVD video disk.

Yup, its around a corner. Saw that too. Pretty reasonable prices, I must say. But do note, most of them speak Mandarin only. I think only the younger chap can speak 'angmoh'.
