Nice stuff David, but how come you got interlacing artifacts? I thought you shoot progressive?

not bad nice footage but would be better if you use a accoustic piece or if you are using this song, use a electric guit.:)

thanks richard! i've no idea where the interlacing came frm.. must be some settings on FCP i did not set..

YS, i would agree with you... but i still prefer the track I used, =D punky

Better quickly check your settings for Toll! :)

I did not notice any interlacing.. the footage is sharp clear and well shot i love it.

Hi bigdaystudio. Not sure how you are viewing the footage (e.g. eyes open or closed or what :) ) but if you look at the still below, hopefully you can see the artifacts around the guitarist's white T-shirt and on the neck of the guitar. This shouldn't happen with progressive footage. Most likely FCP has interpreted the clip as interlaced and then combined the wrong field pairs during rendering.

But I do agree with you that the shots are good.

OK i see what you mean. it happens to my video too i think Hobbes is using "Squeeze" mode to produce the 16:9 footage from dvx is that right? if so this will happen i dun think its interlacing but i think its the resolution drop issue. Just my deduction.

I've had exactly the same thing happen to my video when I was shooting 25p with an XL2. The problem was a setting in the NLE that caused the video to be deinterlaced when of course it shouldn't be. Once I got the setting correct the interlacing artifacts disappeared. If squeeze mode causes the same effect then nobody would use it right? ;)
