A1 is "NOT" a SRL camera. if you are talking about other lens, there are non from Minolta at the moment. there are filters which you can screw on the front of the lens like close-up filters from Hoya...
Hi, there is no need to buy any lens to use with the A1. It comes with a fixed, non-detachable 28-200mm zoom lens. I have the Dimage 7i which has this same lens and it is a superb lens. What I read is some people buy an Olympus converter (expensive) and screw it in front of the built-in lens to get a telephoto to 400mm.
The A1 already has macro mode at 28mm and at 200mm. No need close up adapters. I bought my Hoya slim uv filter for about $20 (I think).
I never buy any adapters/cpnverters to screw to my Dimage 7i lens front as I believe the images will be no good and the weight will damage my camera lens.
If I need to take extreme macros or such I will use my Minolta X700 manual focus with my various manual focus lenses, adapters, etc. Then use my Minilta film scanner to digitize the image.
Did u get close enough? I think the minimum focus distance for the A1 is quite small. So it should be feasible to get a large shot but not 1:1. For that kind of size u need an SLR with a specialised macro lens. What u can do is to shoot a max res, then crop off the excess lor.
For extended range - A1+ modified 1.4x teleconverter from Olympus - to gain up to 280mm approx.
Here is the results - fireworks taken from queenstown + 1.4x tele
And here is a photo taken with the +4 Hoya closeup for added macro. I normally set the camera to macro at 200mm and manual focus. Focus till 0.25m
....
- at 200mm macro...try not to use antishake.......take a deep breath prior to shoot....if handheld....
then move the camera back and forth....to gain sharp focus...than trigger...
