My Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4 got stuck again on my Dynax 7D... haiz... looks like the lens got problem... anyone has a similar problem... I'm looking to sell of this lens and getting the KM one... this Sigma lens works without problems with the film Dynax 7 though... just that the 7D seems rather allergic to it... need a 17-35mm in a hurry though...

I think u should get the KM version and not the Sigma... the KM version has been used extensively by Drudkh and sulhan for almost a year already and it's behaved itself... for me I have only used the Sigma very heavily about 2 times this year and both times after prolonged shooting over a space of a few hours (1st occasion) and this 2nd time (over a few hours as well) the lens got stuck... in fact the aperture closed down and refused to take a shot... so I get a super dim viewfinder cos my lens was stuck at f/16

Anyway, any lobang anyone for a 2nd hand KM 17-35mm? What's the price of new lens? If I can't get one, can anyone loan me one? I've got a shoot on 8-10 Dec... cannot trust my Sigma anymore cos it jams again... that's it!

Got the lens removed on the spot. Sia just forced the lens off... I suspect that the aperture lever on the Sigma lens is a little too short or just long enough to touch the lever on the camera body. So sometimes it slips past the lens' lever and the lens gets stuck. Now my lens and camera's aperture lever are a little chipped off. Sianz....

hmm... so that exact prob lies with sigma since KM fixed the 7D? Maybe u should go back to Sigma Service centre and check. Don't worry, the sigma guy is very friendly. My friend and I had a long chat with him about our problems in different occassion. I am sure he can help you. :)

I'm going to dump the Sigma... but before that I will go back to ask them about it. Anyway, where's the service centre located? Thanks!

Muah! Thanks! Maybe I go down on Thur before the KMOS...

Just got the lens back from Sigma... they changed the aperture controller on the lens. Said it was worn out and that the aperture controller (lever) on my 7D body is out of position so that the one on the lens and the body dun match properly and sometimes go past one another resulting in a stuck lens. The tech mounted a detached lens mount and showed me that the 7D's aperture controller is a little off.

I dun know if that is a problem with my 7D or is a problem with the way Sigma places its aperture controller. Cos I have never had any problems with all other lenses - 1 Tamron, 1 other Sigma and the rest Minolta. Will go down to KMSC after I return from Melbourne to find out what is what...

In the meantime, if u are looking the Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4, that's a pretty fine lens and I think my case is a freak. The tech mentioned that such cases are less than 1% and I think so cos u hardly see this even here in CS.

Anyway, anyone wants to buy the Sigma from me? It's working perfectly now. :bsmilie:

Next time can try apply some KY Jelly, haha!

Some time it is just down to luck for a piece of equipment. But some time, you just want to play safe, get back the original. Like me, can't decide whether on Sigma or KM for zoom lens but think of the future, KM more stable on DSLR, if they got FF n I got $ for it, haha! :bsmilie:
