Has anyone does this before? Can the M9 fire off studio strobe? Thanks.

Yes, just make sure your shutter speed turn to the sync speed, which is the lightning sign on the speed dial.

I remember reading something long time ago in Leica User Forum about older on-camera flash producing a higher voltage (?) which may kill the circuit of the M8. They recommended a Wein adapter to put over the hotshoe.
Not sure how this may apply to M9 & studio strobe.:dunno:

So it might spoil the m9 circuit board?

Oh and where could I get one of these wein adapter in Singapore. Thanks.

Radio triggers should work, I think what gommy meant is that flashes mounted directly on the M9 hotshoe might cause issues.

I see so its fine if I attach a radio triggers onto the M9? I have a pocket wizard which I have yet to try though.

Hi,

I tried a few triggers with M9. The standard studio trigger have no problem at all. Pocket wizards as well. MiniTT1 ,TT5 and plus II no problems except of course no TTL mode. Just as basic triggers.

I see but will flash trigger be like what gommy mentioned earlier? Killing the circuit board. Btw anyone tried the pocket wizard? I can't seems to get them to work. Any settings to share? Thanks.

I tried pocket wizards... see above? just set them to basic trigger mode in the software. It works.

OK just to spoonfeed- http://www.pocketwizard.com/inspirations/tutorials/pocketwizard_utility/

scroll to near the bottom theres the "basic trigger mode" instruction. RTFM man...

Alternately, a cheap IR trigger will also work the studio strobes. I have use both the Chinese made radio & IR triggers on the M9.

Thanks bro. Btw when pushing the transmitter into the M9 I realise its quite hard to get it in. Do you guys push it all the way in? :)
