Leica has unveiled the V-Lux 5, the latest premium compact camera in Leica’s V-Lux lineup and a rebranded version of the Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000 II that was announced back in February.

Leica calls the new V-Lux the “most travel-ready and versatile V-Lux camera to date.”
The design and specs of the V-Lux 5 are the same as the FZ1000 II. At the core of the camera is a 20-megapixel 1-inch CMOS sensor with an ISO range of 125-12500 (expandable to 80-25600).
On the front of the camera is a 9.1-146mm f/2.8-4 ASPH lens (25-400mm in 35mm terms).
The back of the camera is a 2.36-megapixel OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.74x magnification. Under it is a 3-inch, 1.24-million-dot articulating touchscreen.
Other features and specs of the camera include a pop-up flash, high speed autofocusing, 12fps continuous burst shooting, 4K video recording, 4K photo modes, Post-Focus mode, Focus Stacking mode, micro USB charging, an SD card slot, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, and compatibility with the Leica FOTOS app.
The Leica V-Lux 5 is available to pre-order starting today with a price tag of $1,250. By comparison, the Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000 II costs $900.
