Leica TTL Flash metering is a dinosaur - true of false?

From outset, I know nobody really bothers about flash on RF anyway, but purely for sake of academic discussion, is it true that Leica TTL flash is dinosaur? From personal experience, I got some pretty bad results using flash on Leica for the TTL. Maybe this is why.

Leica M TTL Flash -- Not So Great as Newbies Might Think

With today's superb TTL flash from the likes of Nikon and Canon, many newbie RF users assume that TTL flash in rangefinders is equally good. Not True. TTL rangefinder flash is basic 1970's centerweighted technology, without the modern multi-segmented evaluative readings. While an improvement over no in the camera flash sensor, RF flash technology in the four TTL M mount cameras (Minolta CL, Leica M6TTL, Leica M7, Leica M8) is about three decades behind the flash technology in the latest Nikon or Canon SLR! In other words, for most experienced M shooters, TTL flash is not much of a factor in selecting a M mount camera.
