Leica M9!

Hi,

We know eventually there will be a M9. But the latest rumours in the leica forum, point towards a launch date, 09/09/09! Usually, I do not pay much attention to these rumours, but the latest version of Capture One 4.8.2 contains the camera profile for M9! This profile does not have the UV-IR description. There are two profiles for the M8, one with and one without the UV-IR. Does this mean the M9 does not need UV-IR filter? Is Phase One playing a trick on us? More importantly, does this point to the imminent launch of the FF M9? Very interesting!

Unless Leica has solved the way light hits the sensor perpendicularly that can be reasonable accepted, the mount would have to be larger, and this translates to a larger camera body also. But I would sure want an M9. Price is supposed to be US$8000.

So its true???

Will it be full frame???

if the M9 is a ff (135) i will definitely buy it...

but the M8 is really good enough alr...

I am going to stay away by not reading about it. Sigh.

FF or not, I would prefer to have built-in IR filters and clean high ISO.

i'm waiting :)

full-frame leica rf...

wow, dream come true

FF, Eur7700, M8 not phased out so 2 models in Leica digital RF;)

EUR 7700? That's SGD15,788 EXACTLY....

OK... I have to fulfill my promise.... who wants to buy my kidney????

If not enough can top up with my left cornea...

Euro prices are always much much more, since they include hefty taxes.

I wouldnt know about that. Alot more taxes, but I dont find cameras that much cheaper in Singapore than back home in Sweden.

This is strangely true - I find that the price differences between Europe and Singapore used to be quite significant few years ago but have been closing in lately despite the stronger Euro

Anyway, the way Leica does things is to have the announcement, and then have everyone wait 1 year for the actual product. Don't sell your M8 yet.

Better off with the M8 at such M9 prices.

I can wait another 5-6 years when my M8 dies.

wow...someone selling M9 for September 09 delivery.

Good price.... GRAB!

A French dealer is taking M9 orders at Eur 5,500. This will be a FF with 18 Mpx. http://www.objectif-boetie.fr/neuf.htm

But there is another rumour with Zeiss Ikon releasing a FF RF using Sony CMOS sensor.

Is this the reason Leica is jumping the gun? This rumour has been floating around for some time.
