Think you have to wait for the L1 replacement first.

I was just doing some homework on the Leica R mounts (which incidentally can be used on 4/3 via adapter)...

The 14-150mm is going to be cheap compared to those...

But still not cheap, right??:sweatsm:Anyway,Leica don't have the lens i want and can afford anyway.14-150 predict to be +/- RM3000 base on the sale of Nikkor 18-200 VR and the complexity of making 14-150.

The 14-150mm is a 10.7x zoom, and there will be optical compromises.

Don't expect it to perform anywhere near the 50-200mm.

I suspect (and hope) the performance will be good even though its 10.7x. I had the FZ20 that came with the Leica lens and its goes from 36 - 432 mm (12x?). Shots about 4k photos on trips at all focal length and aperture (very often at f2.8) and they were sharp. The cam's OIS were also fantastic that enabled me to take night shots hand-held. Sold it off for the L1 and now waiting for this 14-150.

I've no doubt that it will perform well; and should outperform say the Sigma 18-200, nikon 18-200 and the ZD 18-180mm. But we shouldn't expect it to better than the PanaLeica 14-50mm or the 50-200mm.

Now, if it REALLY is optically better than the 50-200mm, then I worry about the size, weight and price! :bsmilie:

Its a f3.5-5.6 and relatively compact and therefore size and weight is of no concern and I think the price should not be more than S$2K.

My concern is the f5.6 which will frustrates low-light ambient shots even though one may have IS / OIS. Its a good all in one lens but I am now quite tilted towards acquiring a 50-200.

Just get a 50-200.Forget about 14-150.

Tempting but I figure better await some evaluation reports before deciding between this and the new 50-200. The 14-150 has OIS which would help on the L1. Question to be answered .. which gives better performance and value for the $.

Anyway I still have a complete set of Nikon 2.8s to play with in the meantime and therefore can affort to wait.

50-200 offer better $ for performance but the weight is.........Just use a monopod.
