Well it depends on what strategy / goal Leica is trying to achieve... Probably now they're trying to explore new market segments..
( Though I'm not sure whether the market represented by Ms. Yang has deep understanding & passion on photographyWell, let's just see. )
pardon my ignorance but who is Dawn Yang?? if it's a new marketing strategy for Leica (or Leica Asia Pacific) to capture a new market then, they risk irking loyal Leica owners further who may already be disillusioned with their push towards the "luxury" lifestyle segment.... not taking anything away from Leica - they still manufacture the best lens and arguably the best mechanically machined rangefinder bodies but the are lagging in terms of digital technology (although i have to qualify it but admitting that I don't know enough about the technology behind the M Monochrom to comment on that very niche camera). I'm sure the fact that Leica is now controlled by Blackstone (a private equity firm) has some influence on their future (short-term investment) strategy....
what a waste of resources to gain some cheap publicity.... maybe Leica should spend some of that budget on existing Leica fans....
Guys I think you're being a bit tough on her. I mean, who can resist a cute girl with a Leica camera? :bsmilie:
