i sent an enquiry to leica distributor and got the following reply.
Dear Mr BoonWei,

Thank you for your interest in Leica's Camera.
The new compact model that you are referring to is expected to be out in the month of November.
Therefore, we will not have the price for this model until next month.

Should you have anymore inquires, do feel free to contact myself at 6375-5933.

Looks like is is gonna be expensive. :(

For the same amount of money or lesser, it may be worthwhile splurging on the LUMIX DMC-LC1 instead (although they are outright different cameras).

I read that the lens of the CM is possibily the same as that of the Minilux, and the photos of the CM body do not suggest that you can use filters with it (But I could be wrong as a seperate filter adpater can be screwed over the lens, just like the Contax Tix). Quite a few useful additions though, such as the hot shoe and faster shutter speed.

I'm sticking to my Contax T3.

parchiao..
how much does a silver T3 cost brand new ar ?

thanks !

I got mine BRAND NEW from Hong Kong for about SGD850. Have it for more than a year already, and only passed less than 20 rolls through it. Used it primarily as a backup camera, and I never had any problems with it. Buying one in SINGAPORE will set you back by much more.

coz i meeting a seller later to view the T3 he is selling.
we agreed on S$500 if the condition of the camera is good.
how is the metering of T3 ?
can it handle slides properly ?
how accurate are the focusing ?
any bad points about this camera ?

thanks !

The CM is a wonderful little camera. Been shooting with it for a few weeks...it has a fast lens for a P+S, feels great in the hand (light but weghty enough to hold steadily, rounded corners versus the brick-like Minilux) and can stay in default flash-off mode all the time, which I like as I prefer to shoot in available light.

Hihi! How much do you paid for the Leica CM?

I am sure that I was quoted a better price at AP about two months back!

Hi Kex, its avaliable locally in Singapore.
I got mine.
Very Solid Compact Film Cam. :)

I can't remember, but I thought that it was going for something like SGD1,300? At that time, I was aware of some chip issues with the Leica CM, as such a recall which prompted me not to purchase it. I am not sure if the issue has been fixed with the later batches, but I do remember having read through it somewhere.

The first shipment of CMs had a defective chip that caused the user preferences to be reset and the battery meter to give a false reading, and were subsequently recalled.

This has been rectified in the new shipment that went out early this month. Check with your dealer if you are considering one.

Wondering what can one do if they got the defective shipment.
Can they go back to Leica to ask for a chip swop?

Is your CM defective?

It ought to be covered under the 3 year warranty. Check with your dealer or the distributor (Schmidt).

Er.... not sure if its defective...... got good photos out of it and dun't have any user preference in the camera that the camera will reset.
As for the battery meter, its never given me any strange readings so far.
