Having a 50mm on my M9, which lens would be more recommended as a 2nd lens

21mm or 28mm?

does a 21mm really required external viewfinder or can use it with estimation?

would like to get some feedback

I use an external viewfinder with both. Haha. I am very particular about my framing so cannot to just guesstimate.

If you don't use glasses, you can see the entire 28mm framelines with no problem. I wear specs so its quite difficult. But I find it much easier to take pics withh 28mm as 21mm requires you to stand very close to subject.

Well i would say go for the 21mm. And in between can be filled in with a 35mm. Thats for me of course. A good thing about 21 is u can easily zone focus and wider angles usually have shorter focus throw so definitely it is a breeze to use. The only thing being is that it is abit on the wide side i guess.. u can actually guess the frames, but if u r gonna do landscape or more accurate framing , vf is a good addition.

I haven't tried many 28mm but I do like the Leica 28mm elmarit - the rendering is nice, super sharp wide open, hardly any distortion, quite resistant against flares and color fringing. Plus its super compact. Some users say it has pleasing bokeh (if you like that kind of thing).

If you don't mind a compromise, I hear a lot of good things about the Zeiss 25mm 2.8, which is a bit wider than 28mm.

sounds good for 28mm f2.8 to go for walk around
does it worth to get a 28mm summicron as the price is one time or more for that 0.8 F stop?

Only if u need d f/2 for low light shooting. If not f/2.8 is good enuff. Considering d m9's iso performance isn't great higher than iso 1600

I would say yes. The 28mm Summicron has a really unique rendering wide open which I like.

The default lens hood for the Summicron is very big, I spent about $150 getting the alternative hood from Leica. Forgot the part number - but it makes a world of difference as you no longer get viewfinder blockage.
