it claims to be watertight, dustproof & crushproof too and the case itself weight almost 10kg!

I have both Nikon Aluminiun Case and Black Olympus Aluminium Case:

Nikon Aluminium Case - $60 (TCW) Bought 6 months ago already
But now MS COlour selling it for $50 only!!!
Olympus Black Aluminum Case - $30 MS Colour AMK JUST BOUGHT IT TODAY!!!! Good bargain for ppl looking for Oly Aluminum Cases.

Personnally I prefer Nikon one, with foam padding, the Oly only comes with removeable dividers!!!

For $400 definitely I will go for PELICAN, proven to be waterproof and it's the most well known brand for hard-water-tight case brand.

same as the ones given up in the CS Anniversary lucky draw?

The one in the lucky draw were not Aluminium case, but it's made from hard plastic one with air tight seals.
I think the Pelican Case about the same size with the Nikon one from B'day bash is around $180 odd.

I am sorrie to interrupt, but is it the briefcase type with a handle... are you guys talking about that... quite hard to believe that it is S$30.00 only...

It's a fast card. Coupled with their WA (Write Acceleration) technology.

It's not only fast, Lexar cards are supposedly very reliable. It even comes with data recovery software to retrieve accidentally erased/formatted cards.

It's fast yes, but these days you can get speed from third party manufacturers. Lexar cards are generally reliable but that doesn't mean they don't go down.

What you do get is professional support. Data recovery via included software, if that doesn't do the trick they have a 24 hour turnaround service. They have a 24 hour live online tech support team you can chat to. And they have a 1 for 1 replacement guarantee, lifetime.

In many ways, is it worth the extra price? Probably only to professionals who depend upon their cards for a living. Much like, do you need an L lens over a Sigma lens? Similar price differences for similar gains in performance - you pay a lot more for a little bit more.

With Nikon doing such a promo, who will still bother to buy the Sigma SD9 at a few $ less and 3 MP less though with supposedly superior LCD techno?

Can't understand what Sigma is trying to do with such pricing.....

Don't forget that the per-channel resolution of Foveon sensors can outperform the Bayer sensors used in "regular" digicams (DSLR included) :)

Quite true but what would be the equivalent MP of Sigma SD9 (x2, x3)? D100 has double the MP by physical count/specs and the brand name, and a huge 2nd hand market of lenses.

Suppose you strike 4D and has $4k to spare, will any CS member buy the Sigma? Even if Sigma sells at half the price, I doubt they will conquer the market, not forgetting they have a unique Sigma mount.

Because of the Foveon sensor, the Sigma 3mp can outresolve any 3mp camera and come close to if not exceed 6mp cameras. The per-colour resolution of Bayer array sensors aren't that great.

No, even if someone gave me $4k, I won't buy a Sigma SD-9, though I would buy a DSLR with a Foveon sensor. Don't want to be locked to a pure Sigma system. At least with Nikon/Canon, I have quit a bit more options in terms of lenses, etc.
