Konica-Minolta developing 8-17mm f2.8 M4/3 lens?

I shall wait patiently for a replacement for my mzuiko 9-18mm f4-5.6. After just three years, the electronics have gone bonkers. Is this the usual life span of a modern digital lens? My analogue are Nikon AFs are still working after 15 years.

Thought to have exited the camera business, Konica-Minolta may now be making lenses.
