Hi Everyone!

This is a short TV advert that I created recently.

It is my first take on videography, so pardon me for any technical skill mistakes :)

I would really appreciate if you can drop me a comment on this as I believe it is one of the ways that I can know where my mistakes lies and thus to improve on my next project :)

Thanks!:)

The commercial come in two parts (1st part is before the "to be continued", and the 2nd part is after the "to be continued"). I combined them for easy viewing.

Would love to see some color grading. :)

Also, it would add visual interest if the camera were moving, like panning up or down, across the frame etc. My 2 cents. :)

Thanks Doctor Inferno! :)

I guess I would really have to find out more about color grading if I wish to take this hobby to a higher level.

As for the moving visual interest, I do have a question.

As I am using Tripod, my video are all stationary, with only playing with the focus length as the only source of variations. If I going to move the tripod from, let say, left to right, it will cause the video to jerk.

May I know how can I prevent this? or is it because I use the wrong equipment?

Really appreciate your guidance in this :)

Thanks!!!

think not just that. light control can be improved too, especially when subject face is underexposed due to strong ambient light. might need a reflector or 2

Disclaimer first: I'm not a video expert, but I picked up some knowledge over the months. :)

So... For the panning shots you would need a fluid head on a tripod to smoothly pan from say, left to right. Tripod heads that you use in photo is not made for video.

Another thing you could also get is a slider, or make your own, Google "diy slider". And if you really want to take it to the next level, you can get a steadicam - which can take time to master.

Vimeo has lots of this video related stuff, I learned camera movements from there too.

That is alot of new terms for me! Ok! I will research on that :) would really want to improve my skill on videography.

Thanks bro for the advice. Really appreciated that :)

no worries. the very first part. the face totally in shadow. it would be good if u have lets say... an external lightsource/reflector to fill it in. would look better.

i think same thing for the 55 sec part. would be nice to have a bit more fill light lar. but i think pretty much ok bah.

Apart from video production techniques, you have to take note on the video and sound editing process. Matching the color with the text and the footage itself is important. One part which the question mark was red, it doesn't match the background. Another thing is if you had their voices recorded it would be better than text itself.

Thanks :) I will take note of that on my next production :)

oh! But what I trying to achieve in this video is to have a cute and youthful kind of video. That is the reason why I lose big bold fonts and colors in this video. As for the voices, I purposely mute it as I want to use the speech bubble effect to create the cute-ness of the video.. Well, this is my perspective of my video :)

But your advice will definitely help me in my next video. thanks alot! :D
