Hmm. How about the Minolta 85mm f/1.4G Limited? I heard it's legendary too.

Currently I use the sigma 105mm f/2.8EX Macro and I'm rather happy with the bokeh too =)

Minolta 70-200 f2.8 APO G SSM has silky smooth bokeh too... (80-200 f2.8 APO G HS bokeh is very similar too)

Look at the bokeh of these 2 photos...

As opposed to the humble bokeh of the 70-210mm f4 beer can

Seriously though, has anyone noticed that the 135mm STF bokeh seem to have a depth of field on its own?

Anyone in Singapore actually owns this lens??? :sweatsm:

yup the STF has no circles in its bokeh (OOF background), very pleasant to the eyes. I hope Sony will release an AF version, I'll sure buy! :D

Yup, it's because of the graded gray circle there. Makes the edges of the circles dimmer and blend in.

I wonder why not, max T aperture 4.5 is too dark to AF? Even 500mm reflex f8 also can AF so why not this...

simply... no fight...

tho for the 85 vs 135 comparison, i wonder if the pix were cropped or what. how to get same fov? not completely fair... but still... no fight...

Big $$$, no AF, max T4.5, impractical focal length for digital...

The tradeoff?

The most beautiful bokeh in the world. Oh, 135mm STF, why must you torment me so...

Oh... the 85mm pix was cropped at the sides until it's the same fov... Not apple to apple, but then again, we are not talking about sharpness here, are we? ;)

Seems like the sample taken with 70-200 f2.8 SSM some of the leaves at the back has moved quite a bit... hence the blur at the back, They are very similar though.. but I must say for practical term, I think SSM wins.. Never really tempted with the STF... simply too expensive and limited in use.. and I don't really like Manual focus for work.. hehehe.. spoiled with AF system already..

My friend had one for me and I was wondering about it for about 3 months... But I am glad that I bought it..

Don't think I can get anymore until the take over finish and things settle down and when they catch up with their SSM production.

I must say I dunno what's the shutter speed here, but at f2.8 the SSM shutter speed should be 1.5 stops faster than the STF?

Here's comparison with older G (non SSM lenses)...

:sweatsm: Sorry for my enthusiasm, trying to justify my urge to BBB the 135mm STF... :sweatsm:

Keep telling myself it must be the 1 lens I must get before all the "Minolta" is changed to "Sony"...

Think this should be 1 of the 1st lens to go under the Sony management... sigh, no mass appeal = less profit
