Hi, have anyone try the above camera? it the quality good?
It's good
depending on the lens you have. The body may be a tad filmsy (IMHO) but I had decent shots from it. Best to get one with the metered prism viewfinder
I heard of the light leaks and flimsy body... I planning to use it on landscape... and will get a light meter to go with it...
lens is ARSAT B 80mm f2.8 multi coated lens... hmmm.. 80mm is telephoto? I see most of the MF camera come with this range of focal lenght...
it 80mm a standard lens?
anyone know the price?
yupz, there will be little light leaks but depending on the condition of the body. Also affecting the lightleaks is the difference between the cloth or metal curtain.
80mm is more of a tele/portrait lens. You may wanna consider a wide angle for landscape.
How much does a wideangle lens cost?
Is there any place that can repair the light leaks?
Pardon me if I ask too much...
Depending on how rare the lens is also. I have only the 80mm and the Arsat 15mm Fish Eye.
Am looking for a replacement body also coz my metal curtain was damaged some time back...
no worries, it's good to share
As for how much the wide angle cost, I seriously have no idea coz I bought the entire set from a local photographer for a very good price.
I think if you are worried about lightleaks you can do your own lightproofing. If not, hehe.. get a Hassy![]()
Light Proofing? hummm.... using cloth or gaffer tapes...
got any image to share? Hassy is too expensive...
there's a wide angle for sale.. but not too sure whether it is good? http://cgi.ebay.com/MIR-26V-45mm-f3...ryZ30075QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
If you do get one make sure you get a perfectly working one or at least one with warranty. Hard to come by but the Kievs are known for their lemons.
I learnt my lesson the hard way, bought a 2nd hand one only to have it leak like crazy, sent it for responging also no use. In the end sold it off at a loss.
If you really must, at least get the newer 88CM not the 88.
oh, ok... I think I keep more $$$ to get a hassy..
Dont go for KIEV88. Its not reliable and it depends on the series of production if you get a good one. If you insist, look for a modified version like BIG SIX which accepts PENTACON lenses which are easier to get (at least in Germany). You also can try PENTACON SIX as alternative.
cheers

while u get quality with a hassy, dun be too quick to dismiss the hasslebladski... :bsmilie:
used to have a Kiev88CM + the arsat 80/2.8 lens b4 selling it off cos its too much of a hassle finding a good lab to develop and scan 120 negs. had to bring it to downtown shops to do it properly. but, if u follow the operating instructions carefully, it is a wonderful piece of machinery dat produces lovely images. kinda regret a bit selling the kiev off now...![]()
here's something i took 2 christmases ago with the kiev.

At about $1.2k for a used basic Hassy 503CM kit, imported...
do you really want to take all the risks associated with a K88?
I switched from K88 to Hassy ... and realised what I was missing!
