Kickstarter Project - Travelwide 4x5 camera

The lens not cheap because they're basing it on the Schneider Angulon and Super Angulon. I've been searching around and the lens itself will cost between $400-$700. Not feasible.

They're basing it on the 90mm f/6.8 Angulon which is around $150 - $200 USD, and the 65mm f/8 Super Angulon (older design) which is around $180 - $250 USD on eBay. This does not include the Linhof branded angulons which are basically the same lens with a Linhof badge.

I got my 90mm f/6.8 at around $120 SGD a few years back.

I already have the silver old super angulon 90mm f8. Wonder if they will sell body only

Interesting, I have a fujinon 90mm f8... Not sure if i can use on it...

I think if we check the specs sheet for the angulon and if we can get the infinity focal distance. We can zone focus with depth of field? Since LF usually shoot about f16

I think if we check the specs sheet for the angulon and if we can get the infinity focal distance, techically every lens with the same focal distance at infinity can be used. We can zone focus with depth of field? Since LF usually shoot above f16

They do indeed sell the body only and that's a great idea.
It is much easier to have it passing customs and you can leverage each country lenses second hand market instead of killing the prices in US.

IMHO, the great features are:
- weight (lighter than a 5D mark II and a Zeiss Ikon),
- lenses choice within the focal length (90mm),
- price, as you should be able to get into large format for about USD 250 which is awesome.

It is also great to see how they tried their best to involve the large format community to design the camera: Wanderlust 4x5 P&S

I ordered one. Anyone else who backed them up?

Cheers

Apologies for bringing this old thread back up... just like to ask those more familiar with LF about the lenses... :embrass:

I just put myself on their mailing list regarding the 2nd batch of pre-orders. I was reading the FAQ abt the lenses and it says I shd be able to use "most 90mm f8 lenses"... erm... how do I know what are "most" lenses? Can I assume old Fujinon 90mm lenses will also qualify? The old Schneider lenses are really kinda hard to find on ebay.... TIA!

You probably don't have to get the older lenses, there are a few already available on eBay. I believe he mentions you can use other 90mm lenses but you'll have to adjust the focus markings accordingly for the lens you're using. Fuji should work as well as long as the aperture is 6.8 or smaller.

thank you! :)

Can't wait for mine to arrive, the lastest update looks promising

The key specs I believe is the Flange Focal distance of the lens and Copal shutter size. but here is where they listed a few compatible 90mm lens here : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wanderlust/travelwide-45-camera/posts/452611

thanks zguy! :)
